I got screwed by AA on a Qatar Airways Qsuite reservation! I had a confirmed reservation booked on AA.com using AAdvantage miles, and I paid for the reservation on time. However, I never received the confirmation email. So, I went to AA.com the next day to check the status, and the entire reservation was wiped out! I called the AAdvantage Customer Service number and was told by the agent that Qatar Airways canceled my reservation, and it is not quite uncommon! I have never experienced this before! Ofcourse the flights/ seats are no longer available and AA said that they cannot do anything about it. That explanation is unacceptable to me and makes me question the reliability of AAdvantage reservations on AA.com. Has anyone else experienced this?

Welcome @R Rashid - I wouldn't necessarily lay this at AA's door. Airlines choose how much award space they make available to their partners and Qatar may have decided, for whatever reason, that they did not intend to make this space available.

We see examples of this in other relationships. For example, when Fiji Air opens up 2 business class seats, AA can see both seats but Alaska usually has access to only one of them.

Thank you for the explanation. I just wished that there was some kind of notification to let me know. I was totally in the dark. So, in other words, we are at the mercy of AA partners.

With partner awards this is, unfortunately, a common problem. As @MidSouth Skier said, it not a problem with AA but the partner. I never consider anything confirmed until I see “ticketed” somewhere on my account. I’ve had this happen more than once across multiple carriers.

And I've had tickets sitting and waiting to be ticketed for months on end. On the Fiji Air flight I "spent the miles" in (I think) December one year and it was, oh, March or April of the following year before it actually ticketed?
