Hello. My Mom had the Capital One card for many years but it was hacked. She then simply kept a Wells Fargo cash back card (I think) and it was never again hacked.

Question: she would like a new "safe" credit card that gives points in general that she may transfer points. She does not use a computer, so it would need to be a company that would call her should there be any fraud/ criminal activity (AMEX?.. I assume). Ideally, this would give 2x for each $1.... she does not buy airline tickets...... but mainly shops in general at Costco/Home Goods/ Marshalls/ etc.

Does she have other travel expenses? If she's not buying airline tickets then I'm trying to understand why she's accruing points....unless they're for you!

Barclay's Arrival Plus is 2 points on everything but is only redeemable against travel expenses of $100 or more so I don't know if that would work.

Amex Everyday might be good but there are still a few places that don't take Amex so you wouldn't want that to be your only card.

I've also been very happy with my Discover It card - especially the first year when they offer double cashback on all purchases. Effectively 2% cashback, or up to 10% cashback in their quarterly bonus categories (similar to Chase Freedom).

Only downside is Discover is not as widely accepted as Visa/Mastercard... and it sounds like this may be your mother's only credit card, which might limit her.

@MidSouth Skier - yes, those points would be transferable to me. Like both the AMEX and the Barclays suggestions. I will present to her.
@rickyw - Never thought of Discover until now. Would like benefit of points over her cash back (selfishly).
    Thank you both.
