Hotels Can I earn a marriot stay if I book the reservation for someone else?

    Hey Guys,

The title sort of speaks for itself. Lucky told us about the new to Marriott promotion where if we registered and stayed two times until January 31, 2019, we would get a free stay at any hotel up to category 4. I am curious if I would get credit for a stay if I book it under my Marriott profile, however I will not actually stay at the hotel? Or should I add my name to the reservation, and just not show up?

    Thank you

Technically, no. You have to physically stay in the room to get credit.

However, in practice, I have found that I do get credit about 50% of the time if I book under my profile for someone else on Marriott.com.

So, if you do get credit... lucky you! If you don't... unfortunately you wouldn't have much of a leg to stand on if retroactively asking for credit
