My 17 year old son is travelling in Lufthansa F (We've spoiled him for getting into his college) and I was wondering whether he would have access to the cigars in the humidor.

As the smoking age in Germany is 18 I assume not, but I've heard that often rules are bent to first class passengers. He'll be in the lounge at 5.30am-10am, so not peak time, so will the attendants open the humidor for him, and let him smoke?

This is a bit of a concern for us, anyone with any information would be brilliant!

Hi Joe, well the rules are the rules, and obviously you are aware of the law.

With that said, I don't think you'll have an issue as long as your son is mature about it. Perhaps it is something you can order for him, and let him "try" to smoke for a bit (assuming you are traveling together).

I'd also be prepared for them to ask for ID and then decline to serve him. Unfortunately, your son will be in no position to argue and will just have to accept no cigars. As special as the trip may be for you, no lounge attendant is going to knowingly break the law.
