Inflight Experience / Seating Qantas 787 vs Virgin Australia 777 business class

Quite simply - does anyone have experience with both and have recommendations based on preference? Looking into ways back from an Australia and New Zealand trip next March and unless an award seat magically pops up (not holding my breath), the only two options that seem to fit my schedule (and do not have me on angled flat seats) are BNE to LAX flights on either airline that have essentially the same schedule and same price if I end up having to pay cash. Before Qantas' new biz class, I think I would definitely gear more towards VA if Qantas was operating a 777 or A380 on this route, but the 787 hard product looks much improved. Thanks for your help!

Cant really go wrong with either. While I've not flown either, I'd lean more towards Virgin Australia's product.

    Either choice is good:

VA I have found has a bit better food/service, I prefer the VA seat over Qantas, and VA has a bar on their 777s that’s very fun.

QF has the advantage of a 787 (with its lower cabin pressure and high humidity etc), plus the QF lounges on either side of the route are better than what VA offers.
