Arriving from Boston with United Airways at terminal 7 LAX and connecting to a flight to Brisbane Australia at the Tom Bradley terminal. I have 1 1/2 hr connection time. Will I have to go through security again if I go by foot via the tunnels. How long does walking take on average? thank you in advance

I don't think terminal 7 at LAX is connected to other terminals airside so you will have to reclear security.

When you arrive from Boston, you will have to collect all your bags and take them over to Terminal B. Now I fly in and out of LAX very frequently as that's my home airport and I will tell you that the walk from terminal 7 to B with some check in bags and carry-ons is quite a bit. So just be ready for that. Then you will have to re check in your bags with Qantas/Virgin Austrailia (whichever you are flying to Brisbane) and head through security quickly. With a 1.5 hour connection, you can easily make it, but you gotta move quickly, especially for that long walk to terminal B. Hope this helps and please ask if you have an procedural questions with anything you will have to do at LAX

I've done that walk - I recall it being 10 minutes or less, but it felt much longer and my energy was not such that I was happy about it at all (I was in reverse, coming in international and connecting domestic).

For your situation I'm mostly worried if you are doing checked in baggage. I can't think of any time I got out of an airport with a checked bag, marked as priority, within 20 minutes of landing. + 10 minute walk, you're at TBIT at 60 minutes before departure. Now about baggage check in time - this is usually 60-90 minutes for international.

So the answer is - if you're carryon baggage and United is ontime, you're fine just walk quick. If you're checking bags and need to recheck this is going to be very dependent on the airlines having interline or you being at the mercy of the baggage handling lottery. It'd be exactly ontime if everything came up golden on a checked bag you have the transfer yourself. A note on interlining -it does require a single itinerary if the airlines have that agreement in place, you can't book separate tickets and assume they'll still do it for you. And second piece of opinion/free advice - it's cheaper to do laundry than to check a lot of luggage if you can keep the pairs of shoes to a minimum (my wife cannot, thus we own bags that require checking much to my chagrin and our itineraries require long layovers to accomodate).
