AirBerlin's mileage program "TopBonus" filed for insolvency and it is possible to submit a claim for the amount of point balance. The money equivalent calculated by the website is about 0,36 €cent per mile. More interesting is the expert report on the value of miles for certain usage scenarios (shopping, flights, companion awards, etc.) It provides insights on how companies inter-traded the value of bonus points. Please see the report attached. It is in German, but Lucky might create a English blog post out of it.
