    Hi all,

As I realize there is zero award available on SQ from FRA to JFK, I will have to go with a mixed Airline and mixed Cabin booking.

Theo current plan is: F (at least till Singapore) to BKK via Singapore from Australia, TG F to FRA from BKK and LH C from France to JFK.

Question 1: Can I "upgrade" the last LH segment to F from C when availability shows up?

Question 2: Can I rebook to SQ from SIN - FRA if availability shows up for SQ?

Question 3: The route is Australia to North America. Is it possible to fly the last segment from FRA to the US west coast on Star Alliance? Or only to FRA?

    Cheers,
    Thenewone

1 - you should be able to, and pay the difference in miles, if any. Refer to the SQ Star Alliance award chart for pricing

2 - Yes and if you still have other Star Alliance partners, it'll price based on the SQ Star Alliance Chart

3 - Yes you should, but you'd have to connect in New York and once you arrive at JFK you need find your own way to either LGA or EWR to get on a United flight to the west coast. SQ partners with Alaska but award tickets on AS have to be ticket separately and assuming your routing doesnt exceed SQ's max permitted mileage between your origin and final destination.

Please correct me if im wrong, sorry!

    Hi David,

    Thanks for your help.

I will pay the F award for the entire journey. will I therefore still have to pay any difference if F comes available on the LH flight to upgrade "back" to F? I only book LH C because there is no availability on SQ.

Same question here. Do you think I have to pay extra, even if I paid for the entire journey the F award already?

My idea was to take a direct flight from FRA to the west coast on LH. Instead of flying LH "only" to New York.

    Cheers

If you're changing from a ticketed all-SQ itinerary to one that has a star alliance partner airline, you'll be paying the difference in miles, taxes, fees and a change fee.

If SQ award space becomes available and you're changing it back to an all-SQ ticket, you'll be paying (or refunded) the difference in miles, taxes and fees. But you'll be paying another change fee.

If the LH flight you chose goes to the west coast, it depends. Since you're starting from Australia on a single award, you might hit SQs maximum permitted mileage in which case they won't ticket the itinerary. I think you can look up MPM on ExpertFlyer but I'm not sure.
