Visa Catastrophe

Hoping somebody can provide a helpful suggestion here. Booked flights on Kenya Airways through Cheapo Air from Rwanda to Burundi. Burundi subsequently changed their visa process to eliminate visa on arrival, and now I don't have time before traveling to carry out the process, so can't enter the country. Of course, Cheapo Air and Kenya Airways are saying "non-refundable ticket, suck it!" I'm paraphrasing.

Having purchased it with the Amex SPG card, any chance this could qualify as trip cancellation/interruption? Or any other suggestions on how to get refunded?

    Thanks,
    Nick

Thanks, but we're traveling internationally, and need the passport on hand for all the other borders we're crossing.

I would recommend visiting the embassy in Kigali (assuming you are in Rwanda). They would be the only ones able to help at this point.

I can't see your credit card covering you in this instance. I just did a quick search, and best I can tell, Burundi hasn't provided visa on arrival for at least 6 months. Unless you purchased your ticket prior to that, I don't imagine travel insurance would apply.

Yeah, I'll be sure to do that, see if they have any last minute options. Thanks for the advice.
