I've heard it's now pretty tricky to get non-incidentals covered by AMEX's airline credit.

Does anyone know if there are any airlines where a class upgrade can trigger it?

    Thanks!

    Genius, thanks.

I see they are saying seat assignment fees are also waived. Is that while you are booking a flight, or only after?

For example, United and Cathay (2 example off the top of my head) charge a premium for aisle/window seats. If I select one during the booking process, will the card cover that?

I suspect it's only afterward because I assume if you get it during the booking process it's blended in with the ticket price and submitted to Amex as a single charge. You're looking for charges that will be billed separately.

That is correct. Just finished using my Amex Plat credits on taxes, etc. I bought a non-elite friend MCE and received credit for that, but a) it was after booking; and b) I still had to call Amex and ask for it to be recoded.

Also, I recently booked 3 award flights, using the Amex card for taxes. One coded as Misc. and received the credit ($31.60); the other two coded as "Passenger Tickets" ($61.20) and did not get the credits. I called and explained that First class on CX from HKG to JFK/LAX was not $61.20. They recoded both while I was on the phone.
