BA Changed Configuration - Lose First Class Seat?

I booked British Airways first class to London on the 777 when Lucky posted about the amazing fare several months ago (<$2k per person round trip). At the time, there were 14 seats in the configuration, and I had selected three seats in row 4 immediately upon booking. When I logged into my account today, I noticed that the seat configuration had changed to two rows with only 8 seats (presumably the refreshed first class configuration), and I no longer had any confirmed seats. When I tried to select my three seats, there only seemed to be one available. When I try to create a mock booking, it seems that the flight is sold out in First. Do you think it’s possible that I will no longer have any seat reserved, and I will be involuntarily downgraded? I called BA, and they assured me that I am still in first, but they said the seat assignment will be handled at the airport. i called a second time, and they told me that certain seats were restricted and could not be selected at this time. My flight is not until April, and I am uncomfortable waiting until I get to the airport and just hoping it works out ok. Anyone have experience with this sort of thing? Thanks in advance.

April is quite far off and there could be another equipment swap between now and then. I don’t think there’s a lot you can do in the interim except keep watching your booking to see if the equipment changes back. I’ve been in similar situations with other carriers in the past and things have worked out. I’d also be uncomfortable waiting until I arrived at the airport so I’d try to get it resolved closer to flight time, perhaps one month out.
