Hi, Ben -- Perhaps I'm misreading/misunderstanding the new charts, but it appears that there's one way that flying off-peak is absolutely terrible compared to peak... upgrading with Avios. Please tell me the equation for the amount of Avios needed to upgrade to the next class on a paid ticket is changing.. or I might cry!...(kidding, sorta) I'm flying from LHR to JNB in World Traveler Plus during an off-peak date, and have been trying in vain to upgrade to Club World. This upgrade currently costs 12,500 avios (50,000 CW - 38,500 WTP). After the devalution, this will become 30,000 avios (62,5000 CW - 32,5000 WTP)... which is an insane increase, particularly since most awards are not doubling in price!!! What I find even more interesting, is that it's actually a better deal during peak times (75,000 CW-50,000 WTP) = 25,000. I really hope I'm wrong to be worried, especially since there's two of us travelling, and I'm actually trying to upgrade the return flight as well... which means roundtrip for two goes from a 50,000 Avios upgrade to a 120,000 Avios upgrade!!

Riley, I'm sorry to say that you are indeed correct. This devaluation isn't pretty for many reasons, but upgrades are in many ways among the worst devalued. Sorry!
