What are the best options for NYC to Barcelona using Chase points. Economy is fine.

United will cost 30K each way and you'd have to leave from EWR but it's a non-stop. You could also transfer the miles to SIngapore Airlines and it's only 22.5K each way and you'd be flying on the exact same United flights.

If you can find saver award space on the Delta non-stop from JFK, you can transfer the URs to Air France/Flying Blue and it's 25K each way.

Using Avios with Iberia you'd have to connect in Madrid but it's only 21.5K each way. If you use Aer Lingus via Dublin it's 27.5K each way. I'm ignoring BA via Heathrow because I don't wish that on anyone! ;) Transferring the points to Virgin Atlantic is another possibility but again, you'd have to transit LHR.

And if you can't find award space during your time frame, at least look at the Chase Ultimate Rewards portal to see how many URs it would cost to "buy" a ticket. Depending on which card you have each point is worth 1.25-1.50 cents. And since the ticket would appear as a revenue ticket to the airline, you'd earn miles for your flight.

When are you traveling? Ignoring price, there's a lot of availability on AA and Iberia this spring and summer. You might want to find the award you want first and then decide.

this is for my mom and aunt for a cruise from Barcelona. so flexibility is limited. I have the CSR so the portal will probably be the best option. Also, was having trouble searching Flying Blue as award search was blocked out. The flights would be mid April to mid May, they have not chosen their cruise yet

I would highly recommend having them land in BCN the day before the cruise leaves. That gives them plenty of leeway if things get sidetracked.

You could also try using the Virgin Atlantic site to search for Delta awards. Don't pay attention to the number of miles they charge, just look to see if the award space is there. Then you could call Flying Blue to see if they can see it too.

Only URs to work with or do you have other hotel points?
