Hi, I am flying BA First Class on the 747 CPT to LHR on friday and was allocated 5A. However 1K is available and 4A. I know the front row are supposed to be "special" however I wonder if you feel a bit too private and cocooned in? Also the idea that everyone else is behind facing forward you makes me feel a bit..well...not sure. I like the idea of a seat further back so booked 4A. I do like a window seat. Is row 5 too close to a galley and noisy, but nice that no one is behind you? is 1K really a prime spot? thanks

@pier pistocchi -- Welcome! Is anything available in row 2? Those are my favorite if traveling solo.

Otherwise 1K is lovely as well, though you will be rather close to 1A. You can store your bag in the closet though, which helps with space.

5A is not so good, and 4A has the center section right next to it. I would choose window seats in this order if it were me: 2, 1, 3, 4, 5.

Thanks for that, I have changed it to 1K. I like the sound of row 2 so will keep an eye out for that when online check in comes up

    Pier,

I HIGHLY recommend staying in 1K. I had that seat on a flight from LHR to LAX and it was GREAT! I really liked the fact that it was up in the nose of the plane and that no one else was in front of me (heck, you're even in front of the pilots!). The seat is private enough that I didn't even notice others behind me. Tiffany mentioned that seat 1A is close to 1K, but I didn't find that at all. In fact, since there's no middle seat between 1A and 1K, the aisle is wider in that area, so that effectively puts 1A and 1K farther apart than the seats in the other rows. If I remember correctly, there's something like five or six feet separating 1A and 1K. Seatguru mentions that the closet at the front of the cabin may be distracting, but I didn't find that to be the case - no one ever used it on my flight.

One other thing that contributed to my utter enjoyment of 1K was that 1A was vacant, so I essentially had the entire nose of the plane all to myself. As we were flying over Greenland I was bouncing from 1A to 1K taking photos of the incredible scenery below.

My recommendation - stay with 1K. I think you'll really enjoy it.

Thank you for your wonderful detailed insight that no doubt will prove useful. I have my eye on 2A should it come up
