Just wondering the difference between a Bus Gate and a Remote Gate? So a remote gate is a separate enclosed area that has some gates far from the Terminal whereas a Bus gate is where you have to take a bus once you deplane.

came into lax last night on a 787 with AA (just Dallas to lax) and it parked way out in the middle of nowwhere and we walked down (a long way down) to buses.. That was bus gate?

Just trying to get the terminology

    Thanks

In my mind they were always the same thing but I could be wrong.

You could use the terms interchangeably, since both ultimately refer to gates that are otherwise in accessibly except by bus. The area where planes are parked for boarding and getting off the aircraft, where they're not connected to an actual gate, is called a hardstand.

Thanks for the replies. i was confused as i thought they were the same but the article i was reading on the situation at LAX with such congestion made them sound different.

I had never experienced it until last week coming back on AA from dallas and the gate said i think 341 which isnt a gate and obviously would soon find out we would be taken by Bus to the terminal

LAX has remote gates to the west of TBIT and are completely separated from the terminal. There's jet bridges there but it leads to buses that bring you to the main terminal. It has no use other than to load and unload pax from planes. There's no services there It's different from the American Eagle gates to the east, where there are concessions

@David W - Is that a temporary or permanent arrangement at TBIT?

Ive only seen it on google maps and passed by them once or twice. I'm not sure how permanent they'll be since TBIT is getting a mid-field concourse
