How many deep discounted fares do airlines usually release? Do discounted fares mean that this is the lowest the price will go and I should book asap? Flight is international.

For example, (P) fare on United or (I) on American.

Back in the days when I was flying international economy, discounted fares were almost always available and there was an ebb and flow on prices, but the best prices seemed to be around the six month out from flight day. In the last four or five years since I started flying International Business Class, discounted fares seem always to be available a year out and eventually run dry as those scarce seats are sold. These discounted fares can vary by as much as $1000 on a ticket to Europe from the USA. A lot depends on the destinations, airline, date of travel and even the economy as to whether these great fares are just a few seats in Business Class or half the cabin. If I see a great fare, I grab it and I usually end up winning. If you have a certain fare you’re looking into, tell us what it is and we can give you an opinion as to whether it’s high or low for that market since a lot of us here frequently fly international business class.
