Expedia 24 Hours Faullacy?

    Hello all,

    I have learned a hard way, and thought I share this info...

    The context was I got a ticket in the evening on the local time (in Asia), and decided to canceled it the next morning. It was through Expedia. jp. But the global support for Expedia customer service claimed that the ticket has to be in the same day of the purchase in order process the refund. I reached out to Expedia on Tweeter, same replied with the purchase date rule.....Now I have to face a hefty fee for a refund. I thought they claimed the idea of 24 hours, rather than the date of issued tickets purchased??? Am I missing anything here?

    What airline did you book on? I'm pretty sure the 24 hour rule is a DOT policy for any reservation touching the US, so if you're flying exclusively in Asia, you don't necessarily have that 24 hour protection.

    Expedia "tries" to outline this, it seems:

    DoT 24 hour cancellation rule only applies when you book the flight directly with the airline, not when you book the flight through an OTA.
    Therefore, it's usually best to book your flights directly with the airline.
    Expedia's policy is what you agree with them when you book your flight with them.
