Most of Congress flies commercial. I’ve been on several flights with representatives and they can’t like the current situation any more than we do. Congress has skin in the game and maybe something good can come out of this. My skepticism concerns test methodology. In past tests where they successfully evacuate an aircraft in 90 seconds, the test participants seem rather young and fit. Look around next time during boarding and you will see a lot of families with young children, elderly and other passengers with limited mobility. Less seats translates to less passengers translates to quicker evacuations. If they’re really concerned about safety in these new super packed cabins, they need to design a fair test. Otherwise it’s just a sham.
