Greetings -- I am trying to book LHR-ANC (Anchorage) business class, using Alaska Air miles.

The only choice is using expensive British Airways or American -- American BUSINESS CLASS seats do not seem to be available -- ever!

Are they that full always? Are they only giving Alaska a tiny amount of this class?

Do they let you upgrade at the airport ? I really don't want to sit in coach on a long haul flight.

thanks in advance for your help.

AA is not real good at opening up seats on their own planes and it's been that way for awhile now. If you don't mind connecting, I'd look for flights out of Chicago, Philadelphia or Charlotte to see if there's availability there.

I don't think AA flies to ANC direct from anywhere other than DFW (though I may be wrong), and biz seats are difficult to come by unless AAnytime award seats. You can probably book biz to PHL, CLT, or ORD no problem (if you have flexible dates) and are willing to play the upgrade game with AA for the domestic legs.

But you can also connect to Alaska flights which should open things up a bit.

I think you have better chances of finding award space on BA and then connecting to an Alaska flight. Alaska flies to ANC from ORD, PHX, LAX, SEA and PDX, with BA serving all those cities except for PDX.
