How and where to credit miles

    This is an entirely hypothetical question born out of a silly exercise with Google Flights.

    Imagine the following itinerary, all one reservation, all business class at $3895, paid via an online travel agency:

    LX691 MAN-ZRH
    LX160 ZRH-NRT
    QF80 NRT-MEL
    QF679 MEL-ADL

    Ignoring for the moment the need to return to MEL, the return is:

    QF93 MEL-LAX
    LX41 LAX-ZRH
    LX380 ZRH-MAN

    My question is - can you 'split' your mileage claims, meaning claim the QF segments with a OneWorld FF account and claim the LX segments with a Star Alliance account? Or would you need seperate reservations for the different airline segments to split the claim? I ask this because last year I flew ADL-DXB-MAN. ADL-DXB was Qantas, DXB-MAN was Emirates. It was all one ticket, and all credited to AA (which is what I wanted, given the flight numbers were all QF).

    As I said, this is entirely hypothetical. I really just wondered, given I was playing around with Google Flights.

    Claim the flights afterward and don't put a FF number in when you book?

    You would get J lounge access, or is the problem that you have AA status the give you F lounge access on the QF flights?

    Optionally have the lounge dragons or other airlines staff change the FF number as the flight goes on.

    No real problem, per se. With J lounge access all the way across and back, AA status is no issue. Its really 1) can I split the claim, and 2) how? When I put my little test into Google Flights, I could book directly with CheapOAir (an OTA). It gave me the option of putting in a Swiss and Qantas FF number, but not OW vs SA. Had not considered the lounge dragons (that made me lol, btw) as I was more looking to set things up "pre-flight".

    I think if you enter no frequent flier number, and just save all your boarding passes - you would submit each individual flight to whichever airline after the trip?
