I'm curious if there is any data from any airline showing how many people book one award business class ticket from US to Europe on Delta for 320,000 miles; or on Lingus Air for 280,000 miles, AA for 180,000 or even United for 155,000---or something like that?

I wonder what is the logic behind this kind of requirements: is it really a lot of people out there with multi-million miles award accounts?

Perhaps Ben might have some thoughts about that?

I know of one person who does this routinely. My dentist, a really successful guy with a chain of clinics told me he does $250 thousand a month on credit card spend through his business and does a lot of last minute premium cabin award flights for he and his wife because his work will not allow him to book far in advance to take advantage of better reward value. Also, if you fly a lot of long haul paid premium flights, have top status, your mileage racks up quickly.
