KrisFlyer max distance restriction?

So I tried to book TOS-LAX (TOS-OSL-ZRH-LAX) on KrisFlyer and I was told that's not allowed. I pressed for a reason but I was told it exceeded maximum level. I got it ticketed on United for 70k miles just fine.
I had to change it to OSL-ZRH-LAX instead and pay for TOS-OSL out of pocket.
    Anybody knows why this is?

I found this post on Travel Codex from last year: 2018 Guide to the Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer Program. In the section about award ticket routing rules is this:

KrisFlyer routing rules are very strict. They typically require you to book a published routing (something you can buy from the airline’s website) and they specifically prohibit any significant backtracking on awards. Your routing must be the most direct route (even if you are adding stopovers). You can book up to six segments per award.

So I'm wondering if the SQ system thinks that TOS-OSL-ZRH is not the most direct way to get back? There are two airlines that run seasonal non-stop TOS-ZRH flights so perhaps it thinks you should take that? I'm just guessing here...

TOS-FRA-LAX or TOS-ARN-LAX aren't available on the dates I'm flying (12/2) so TOS-OSL-ZRH-LAX becomes the shortest and most direct route even on Google Flight. I'm just frustrated since they would not give me a reason and just told me it wasn't allowed. I see nothing in KrisFlyers T&C that states this particular routing rule.

Which airline was flying Tromso to Oslo? According to the T&C, Singapore can't book one-way awards that involve travel on SAS. Assuming Oslo to Zurich to Los Angeles was all on Swiss, and the leg from Tromso to Oslo was on SAS. There's your issue, sorry!

I was able to ticket SK OSL-ZRH then LX ZRH-LAX, but I just can't add SK TOS-OSL portion for whatever reason.
