Hi All, I’m David from the uk and I’m new here and whilst not new to the loyalty side of things, I’ve realised that I haven’t been maximising my points earning potential as much as I could have done.
I have a question that I struggle to find the answer to on the hotel/airline websites and hopefully I can explain it ?
My first question is, if I hold loyalty with Marriott for instance and UA and I book a hotel via the UA website using their “rocket miles” thus earning the UA mileage for the booking, can I also earn hotel points as well ? , reason I ask is that I notice the “rocket miles” is powered by hotels.com and I’m not certain at all.
    Cheers David

    Welcome David,
unfortunately not. Hotels these days will typically only allow you to accrue their points if you book directly through them or with a human travel agent. Booking through third parties like airlines and even online travel agencies like Orbitz or Travelocity, you typically will not earn that hotel's points although you may earn Orbucks or credits via Hotels.com or whatever currency that particular website awards its users.
