I'm looking for some advice about arriving in the Melbourne airport. Our final destination is New Zealand, but we have a scheduled arrival into Melbourne at 7:25am. I'm trying to schedule our flight from MEL to CHC and I'd like to know how much time I should plan for to get through passport control, customs, bio screening, etc? I'm looking at a flight that departs MEL at about 9:15 am, will this be ok or am I cutting this too close? I really dont want to be rushed, but the next available flight (nonstop) isnt until the afternoon.

Thanks in advanced for your help!

Welcome @Greg B - that would be cutting it a little too close for my personal comfort. If everything goes well, you're in great shape but it doesn't take much to throw you off-schedule with that. And, technically MEL-CHC is an international flight so you're supposed to check in 2 hours in advance, I assume.

Also, since you'll be entering Australia to pick up your bags and re-clear security you'll need an Australian ETA, just like you will for NZ. They're super-easy to get online and not expensive but you just don't want to forget that. Here's Ben's post on the NZ ETA, which is new: https://onemileatatime.com/new-zealand-eta-requirements/
