    Hi there,

I wanted to see if anyone has encountered any issues with qualifying for SPG Lifetime Platinum in 2018 and not having it recognized by Marriott.

My understanding was that the old criteria for qualifying for Lifetime Platinum as an SPG member remained in place until December 31, 2018. This is the wording from the Marriott website:

You can also qualify for Lifetime status via the existing criteria for Rewards > and SPG > through December 31, 2018.

My stats as at December 31st were 517 nights and 14 years as an SPG Platinum (qualifying year to year). Marriott customer service are now insisting that only the Marriott criteria applied (i.e. 600 nights and 10 years). This seems to be in direct contradiction to their website and e-mails only just get the same verbiage quoted time and again with the customer service rep not actually replying to my query about how they explain the statement above.

I was never a Marriott person so even if you took the few Marriott nights I accumulated post-merger, I 'd still end up at over 500 on SPG nights alone before December 31st - and I'd seen discussion that that didn't matter either for these purposes.

If Marriott are now backtracking on this, I would say what's the point of my even staying loyal once this years Platinum status runs out?

    Anyone had similar experiences?

Had a issue with them too in regards to platinum status. The app said I needed 6 nights to platinum, I was Leary and called an was assured that it was true. Well found out the app was not up todate and and lost out on status. Made a complaint and the office in Texas, could not careless . Just gave excuse after excuse, because I agent did not access the account there is no record or they are to lazy to look. They also asked if I took a screen shot, which I did not as I assumed that there app is up to date. I’ve lost all confidence in Marriott was much better customer service with SPG. Looking at other option as to where to give my loyalty.
