Which OneWorld membership?

Discussion in 'questions. answers. conversations.' started by i.fly.around.the.world, Mar 20, 2019.

  1. Hey Lucky and team.
    Thanks for a fantastic blog!
Sorry if this questions already been asked, but I am going to travel a lot these next couple of years with work, and in business class. I live in Denmark and the company where I work has a corporate agreement with. British Airways (west bound) and Finnair (east bound). Now, what would be your take on which OneWorld airline membership that would make most sense for a European? BA? Finnair? Or another programme?

    Thanks!
    Chris

I'd check your most likely routes and see what program would offer the most mileage return for the fares and routes you are going to fly and that has destinations/partners that you are interested in using.

However, given that you are going to be doing a lot BIS travel, you want to look closely at the programs of Finnair or BA since getting status will benefit you the most as a frequent traveler when your are more likely to be hit with IRROPs. Good luck!

    Hey @i.fly.around.the.world
I am not sure if it would apply to you since you live in Denmark, but I believe that with Finnair Plus there is some sort of income tax applied on redeemable miles if you are earning them through business trips and using them for leisure.

I guess it really depends on what you want to use your miles for (for instance, BA Avios present a very good value for short haul travel)
