Hi, next year I'm planning on flying Emirates First from Auckland to Cairo. With Emirates' recent news, my choice will be between the 777-200 direct to Dubai or the A380 via Australia.

What would people recommend? I'm guessing that flying on the world's longest flight would give me some bragging rights, but would the A380 be more fun and luxurious?

Note that this would be my first time in First, and it may well be my only one.

    Thanks,
    Malc

@Malc - I did the current longest flight (DFW-SYD) on the A380 in F last year and was shocked at how quickly the nearly 17 hours passed! That being said, once it was time to start getting ready to land, I was ready to be off the plane. The hard product on the A380 was terrific - I'd never had a shoulder belt on an airplane seat before - and I couldn't believe how quiet it was. I can't speak about the 777-200 but Lucky has had a couple of reviews:
    AA First Class PEK-ORD
    AF Business Class CDG-JFK

    Ultimately, it's up to you!

Yeah, sure - who knows what this innovation is. If it's equivalent to Etihad's apartments it'll be out of my league anyway. I meant all things being equal.

Thanks, I was leaning towards the Aus option.

Thanks for that. Any idea how different the Emirates A380 seat is to the 777-200 one in First?

The seat is no different, but there is only 8 seats in a 1-2-1 configuration rather than 14 seats on the A380. On the 77L aircraft there is Live TV (pretty awesome) and super slow Wi-Fi.

Also, air vents + very old seatbelt signs!

A380 has showers, which should clinch it.
