Great Fares / Hot Deals Would you choose flying 1st class on Cathay error fare or staying by your sick dad’s bed?

Discussion in 'questions. answers. conversations.' started by neverFlyFirstClass, Oct 2, 2019.

  1. Hi Lucky,

You must remember the epic error fare by Cathay earlier this year?
How many people did you know that ‘lucky’ enough to get the first class return tickets, not just one, but 3 seats for the sister and mother too...
Then been waiting for that trip with high anticipation, planned many exciting things to take a very deserving ‘single fighter’ ageing mom on a holiday of a lifetime... and suddenly.. by cruel (or not?) fate.. one week before the departure date, everything is now on the line... that all those 3 luxury seats might be flying on air.. without the named passengers. Because the father who’s having long term illness (for 23years!) now lying very sick in his bed.. would he see tomorrow, nobody knows.. let alone next week.
I don’t think any travel insurance would cover such situation, rescheduling 3 first class tickets.. that would mean needing to pay the normal fare... definitely a fortune the family can’t afford.

I don’t know why i wrote this to you. It’s almost 2am local time here... perhaps in the midst of desperation, hoping you could share us some lucky tips..

Do you think Cathay will look into our cases if we plea earnestly?

It's always worth asking, but I wouldn't be optimistic Cathay will be accommodating.

I hope your father gets better!

If it is any solace - my Dad has been on home hospice for seven weeks......and palliative care before that. Went for five nights to BCN end of August and two nights in Vegas in Sept. Do not count him out!
